Facebook is offering TikTok influencers thousands of dollars to post exclusively on Reels. While that may seem like a great opportunity, ask yourself — Why?
Thousands of people deleted their Meta apps (Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Whatsapp) around the time the Supreme Court upheld the TikTok ban. This occurred for multiple reasons:
- Meta lobbied for the TikTok ban under the guise of cybersecurity, even though Meta has been sharing user data with Chinese businesses for years
- In investigating Meta’s involvement with the ban, people found out what “Off-Facebook Activity” means and how Facebook has been tracking all of their activity, even when users are signed out. There’s everything from bank information to their children’s school portals.
- They saw the scale of tracking that Meta apps conduct, Messenger being the most heinous.
- Despite the promise of end-to-end encryption on Whatsapp and Messenger… it became clear that this is either not 100% true or an “unintended”…
